The History of Vaccines is an award-winning informational, educational website created by The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, one of the oldest medical societies in the United States. A group of prominent Philadelphia physicians, including Declaration of Independence signer Benjamin Rush, established the College in 1787 “to advance the science of medicine and to thereby lessen human misery.”
Story of the object
The article is a take on the anti-vaccination movements over the history. Turns out, the saying about us, people feeling threatened by that which we can not understand, applies here too. Ever since Edward Jenner introduced the concept of vaccination, people have feared it. Knowing the history of the anti-vaccination movement is important for every future physician to know the root of the problems and why people are so adamant against vaccines and their prejudices, so they can know how to tackle the problem.
