Story of the object
It is the first permanent anatomical theatre in the world, wanted to allow medicine students to assist the autopsies.

Wanted by Girolamo Fabrici d'Acquapendente in 1594 can be visited in Palazzo Bo of the University of Padua. You can see six turns of boxes and, in the centre, the sectorial table on which the autopsies were performed. A moving roof originally allowed bad smells to escape. A communicating room allowed the students to practice. The studies were carried out on corpses of people condemned to death. The Reader's chair is a real monument to teaching. The walnut chair was reserved for the professor who taught there. The Massari, students enrolled in the second year of medicine, were given the task of finding the corpses and assisting the teacher during the lessons.
