Story of the object
The book was printed in 1506 by the printer Jacobo Cronberger in Seville for the first time. It has been written by Alonso Chirino or Alfonso Chirino de Cuenca, doctor of the King of Spain John II of Castille (1405-1454). On chapter 3 there are recommendations to avoid seasonal illness and infection for plagues, the 4th is related to the soul passions and healthy mood, the 5th is related to more general illnesses such as pox and fever. The 6th to poisons effects and other parasitic illnesses, the 7th to surgery and traumatic illnesses, included ulcerate and cancer. The last chapter focuses on common illnesses affecting the body in everyday life, i.e., headache, pain, vomit, and sciatica. The book is a health manual similar to the Regimen Sanitatis Salerintanum, a standard format used to advise the individual patient. This approach is very similar to contemporary centred-based medicine.
